Agent networks

Two hundred agents, two hundred conversations about commission.

In a network, commission isn't a number — it's a chain. The agent who wrote the business, whoever manages them above, and the remainder that stays with the house. Amparo calculates that cascade to the cent, gives every agent a portal showing their own book and commissions, and doesn't show them a colleague's line.

If this sounds familiar

  • Every agent negotiated their own percentage. There's no single rate.
  • Overrides for whoever manages the network are worked out by hand, or not at all.
  • Commission statements go out as spreadsheets, by email, once a month.
  • When an agent disputes a figure, nobody can show how it was calculated.

What Amparo does in this case

Cascading on the remainder

The writing agent takes their share of the gross; what's left flows up; whoever is above takes their share of what reaches them; the house keeps the rest. Distributing more than 100% becomes structurally impossible.

To the cent, with rounding on the house

Arithmetic runs in whole cents and the lines always sum to exactly the gross. When there's a rounding remainder it stays with the house — never taken from the agent.

A portal with the brokerage's brand

Each agent sees their own book, commissions and renewals in a portal carrying the brokerage's identity, not ours. A brokerage reselling Amparo to its agents never shows our name.

Opacity between peers

An agent sees their own split line and their own sub-network's. They don't see a colleague's percentage. In a network where people compare notes, that isn't a detail.

How it runs

  1. 01
    Model the hierarchy

Agents, offices and the chain of who manages whom, each with their own percentage.

  2. 02
    The receipt is collected

Gross commission comes off the commissionable base — net premium and charges only, never the taxes.

  3. 03
    The cascade runs

Each level takes its share of what reaches it. The lines always close on the gross.

  4. 04
    The agent sees it

In the portal, itemised by policy — and able to ask about one specific line.

What Amparo doesn't do for you

  • The portal is read-only — no quote requests and no document upload by the agent.
  • There's no native mobile app; the portal is responsive, which isn't the same thing.
  • Commission statements are viewed in the portal. Automatic emailing isn't built yet.

We say this on the product page because finding it out in the third meeting is worse for both of us.

Questions

Yes. The chain is walked recursively to the top of the network, with cycle protection — a circular parent from a bad import doesn't hang the calculation. Each level has its own percentage.

Bring a month of statements. We'll compare against your system.

If we don't find differences that justify the cost, you'll know that in a week — without spending a project to find out.
